WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
I don't see this changing between now and Mania. Adding Bryan to the mix at Fast Lane gives both guys something to do while Lesnar isn't around. Roman's been set to be the guy now for awhile and I don't see one night in Philly making WWE change their course. Adding Daniel Bryan to the mix at Fast Lane works out well because I really don't know what the plan for him will be. He should have a fairly significant role at WWE's biggest event of the year, I just can't figure out what that role is going to be yet.....I just really hope is doesn't involve Kane. As for the actual match? Time to give the ball to Reigns and see what he can do with it.
Sting vs. HHH
I'm not really shattering any new ground here as the foundation for this has been in place since Survivor Series but this is still a marquee match. WrestleMania is always about "moments" and seeing A Man Called Sting inside a WWE ring and competing in a WrestleMania match definitely classifies as a moment. Putting him in there with someone like HHH will lead to a memorable match but I think I'll be more excited to see what Sting does in the six weeks between Fast Lane and Mania to build to the match.
Rusev vs. John Cena
Famous last words, but I actually think Rusev is going to beat John Cena clean at Fast Lane. I'm sure there will be some type of chicanery involved but having Rusev beat Cena at Fast Lane then having Cena "overcome all the odds" and winning at WrestleMania isn't a bad story to tell. Add in the fact that Rusev is still holding the US Title and I think we also get a Hulk Hogan appearance here somehow. John Cena and Hulk Hogan standing in the ring victoriously holding up the United States Championship with Real American bursting through the stadium....there's another 'Mania moment for ya.
The Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt
I didn't think we would actually get this match and thought Taker would take the year off, sell the beating from Lesnar last year, rest up, and make one final run next year at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas and retire. But Bray planted the seed in his promos this week on both Raw and Smackdown, so this seems like its in place too. My problem with Undertaker Mania matches the past couple years is the fact that he doesn't wrestle matches prior to WrestleMania which hurts the build leading in. I don't think people were as upset with the fact that Brock beat The Undertaker last year as much as they were upset that they never thought of Undertaker losing as an actual possibility because the build leading up to that match was pretty weak. Without The Undertaker actually wrestling before Mania, which I can't see happening, I don't see how the build to this match will be any better. I'm sure the match itself will be good, but not sure I'll be on the edge of my seat waiting for it.
Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton
Now we get to the part of the card where I'm not sure what happens. Being a Dolph Ziggler guy, I really wanted to try to fit him into a match with Rollins to get back at The Authority but I think Randy Orton returning to get some payback against Rollins just makes more sense. As of now, I don't think we get a Money in the Bank cash-in on this night but I'm going to hold on to that prediction until we get a little closer to the event. I think if Seth would cash-in after the main event, on either Lesnar or Reigns, he'd get a little too many cheers. If Daniel Bryan works his way into the main even though, then I'm all in on the Rollins cash in to end the night.
Bad News Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Daniel Bryan
I wish I had a better spot or feud on the card for these guys but I just can't find it. I don't see Daniel Bryan sneaking into the main event and making that into a Triple Threat match and I think I already have too many singles matches on the card to add another match of Daniel Bryan against either Ziggler or Shaemus. So, let's add them into the Intercontinental Title picture and make it a fatal four-way match and let these guys just go at it and put on a show for 12 minutes. If there is a better spot for Bryan on the card, and I really hope there is, then I see all three of these other guys going into the Battle Royal below.
Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal
I'm not sure I'm on board yet with making this into an annual event like Money in the Bank use to be but I don't have a better way to get guys on the card. I feel like I'm leaving a lot of guys off and this does look like the best way to get everyone on. Since I'm not confident that Ziggler is actually going to be in the match above, I think he's going to win this instead. Hopefully he can get a little more out of winning this than Cesaro did last year.
Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella vs. Paige vs. Natalya
I'm sure you could see any variation or combination of divas in this match, but I'll go with these four in a fatal four-way match. I think we see Natalya get rewarded for her years of work here and leave with the Divas Championship. Give her the win and let her run with the title for awhile. Let her feud with the Bellas shortly and then follow that up with a good feud with Paige and I'm entertained. I don't think WWE is to the point where they are going to start prominently featuring women's wrestling, but those feuds would keep me interested after WrestleMania.
There could be so many different ways you could go with this match so I'm just putting NXT match as my prediction. I think you get a long preshow than normal since its WrestleMania and WWE will want to get people logged in to The Network early to avoid a huge logjam at 7 PM. NXT has been so good this year that I think these guys deserve a spot on the biggest night of the year. If I need to go with a specific prediction, I'll go with a 6-person elimination match for the NXT title. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Hideo Itami vs. Finn Balor vs. Adrian Neville vs. Tyler Breeze.
Golddust vs. Stardust
I just don't see this one getting the time to make the main card. I do think the preshow gets two matches though to get people logged into The Network like I stated above so I think this is the second match on the preshow. I think Cody will be the Rhodes brother that picks up the win here but I don't know what either one of them does from here. Can Golddust go on to be a singles wrestler again, or is this towards the end of his run? And does Cody go back to being Cody Rhodes, or does he make a singles run as Stardust? I'm not sure I like any of those options but I'll be interested to see where they go with it.
There we go....that's my first look at the WrestleMania card. I'm sure it will change quite a bit in the next 49 days but that's what makes The Road to WrestleMania so great. I'll probably get an updated look at this after Fast Lane, and probably another one right before the RAW in Des Moines we are going to two week before WrestleMania. Let me know what you think!
