Probably the most eventful thing I'm looking forward to at this PPV is to see where they start taking things moving forward after the WWE Draft. This is actually the first televised event after the draft, so it will be interesting to see how they play up that dynamic. There are some RAW vs. SmackDown matches now at this PPV so it will be interesting to see how those shake out. And maybe most importantly, I'll like to see if they give any hints on what they are going to do with some of the titles. Will they float between brands or do we have to create new Women's titles, Tag Team title, and new championship title for each brand?
It's gotta be Bayley, but what if it's not? I can't see any reason why Bayley wouldn't have been drafted last Tuesday other than they were saving her debut for tonight. But then how can that work? How can RAW, who already had all the extra picks on draft night, just decide to bring an NXT talent to their show? That wouldn't seem fair. It would be easy to explain or get around, just seems a little clunky.
But again, what if it's not Bayley? Who else could we go with here? I think Emma is still a ways away from coming back and I don't know if Nikki Bella is cleared yet. And even if they were, I'm not sure they fit well with Sasha. Why would they come back to help her. So let's throw something out there WWWAAAAAYYY outta right field. And this is probably more fantasy booking and hope than anything else though, but what if.....
It's Trish Stratus. Imagine that pop she could get. Why can't Trish come back just for a quick one-off? Imagine how much fun that would be. She's talked in the past about wanting to get back in the ring if the situation was right. I don't think this is that situation but it's fun to know it's on the table. She comes tonight, gets the huge pop, helps Sasha win, and rides back off into the sunset until she wants to come back for a real program.
It would be fun. But it's going to be Bayley.
This better be good and lead to something big at SummerSlam. But this was one of the HUGE matches WWE still had in their bag and they've almost wasted it so far but using it at the same time that Roman Reigns has been suspended. I thought for sure they would try to get out of it in some way, especially if the rumors that WWE knew about the suspension before the belt changes at Money in the Bank and making this match for Battleground are true.
That leads me to think that they have some BIG angle planned that leads to the main event at SummerSlam. That's the only reason I could see the WWE sticking with this match even through Roman's suspension. So I'm looking forward to how this match ends and how we get to SummerSlam.
Gotta think that Zack Ryder and Darren Young both play the same role tonight. Whether that is underdog that brings a title back to their brand from the other show, or guys that both come up short. I can't see one winning a title and the other not, and giving one show both the US and IC titles. Currently, Miz is on SmackDown with the IC title and Rusev is on RAW with the US title.
My guess is that Rusev continues to dominate and beats Ryder fairly easily. There will be some hope spots here and there for Ryder that the crowd will bite for but ultimately Rusev continues his hot streak into SummerSlam. Which means I can't see Darren Young winning the title and bringing the IC title to RAW as well. So I'll predict a Darren Young win by DQ or countout or some weird happening. Anything so he wins but doesn't get the title. That will also allow Miz to keep the title and move on to a new feud leading into SummerSlam since he'll be on SmackDown and Young will be on RAW. It's a win-win for both guys.
We hit fairly well on the moneylines at Money in the Bank, making that two straight PPV's where we've made money. We went into MITB with $1,229.84 and left with $1,619.84, for a net profit of $390. Here were our bets:
$600 on AJ (-200) WIN $900
$200 on Rollins (+240) WIN $680
$100 on Ambrose (5/2) WIN $350
$60 on Jericho (6/1)
$60 on Cesaro (9/1)
$100 on The Club (2/1)
$100 on Titus (15/4)
Instead of keeping that hot streak rolling, I'm actually going to stay away from everything tonight. Kind of a cop-out, I know; but I just don't have a great feel for anything tonight and I really think after the Draft Tuesday night they could go in a lot of different directions. So I'm just going to stay away from everything here and get to SummerSlam in the black. I'll have my confidence pool picks listed right below these if you want to go off of those tonight.
