Saw a tweet yesterday that made me as giddy as almost any tweet I've ever read. Apparently, WWE is thinking about creating WWE themed amusement park rides or even it's own amusement park. They are only in the idea stage right now it seems but this could be the ultimate game changer. I'm not sure if I would have to uproot my family and move to wherever they would end up placing this park in the future but that option would definitely be on the table.
The leading location would appear to be Orlando, to put with their long-awaited physical Hall of Fame. The dream would be to have the physical Hall of Fame in Orlando alongside this WWE amusement park and Full Sail University where they currently have their developmental center and NXT.
I love this idea. Not sure it will ever come to fruition but I hope so.
Speaking of tweets that made me giddy....
The Big Ten Network tweeted a link to Tom Dienhart's article predicting the Big Ten teams that will make the NCAA Tournament next season. A noticeable absence: the Iowa Hawkeyes.
I am in the same boat. I know there is going to be a lot of hype and optimism in Iowa City the upcoming seasons but I said at the end of last season that 2017-2018 would still be an NIT season for them. Glad to see another member of the sports media agrees with me.
Was checking my summer calendar to see what dates we have free and what dates are booked. Noticed we were free, I think, on Iowa Games weekend this year. I'm going to try to convince my wife to do some event with me but in the likelihood that that fails, if anyone is looking for a partner in any event this summer let me know. After missing out on medals last year, I need to get back on track and win some events.
Here is the event list. They've added some new events this year that look interesting and promising. I'd like to get in on some Bocce ball action but $80 a team seems a little steep to me, but I do like them adding events. But that one's on my radar.
If I can't get a partner for anything, I think I might be leaning towards the Duathalon. Another new event this year. Apparently it's a 5K, followed by a 15 mile bike ride, followed by another 5K. I think I could pull that off. I couldn't win it but I could complete it I think. I'd like to do the full Triathlon but I don't trust my swimming enough. There's at least a 20% chance that I'd drown during the event.
Another teacher told me this summer that if you want to medal in things, Track and Field is actually a great option. Not many participants in the other age divisions. So I might just bust out a 800m or something like that and try win a medal.
I'll keep everyone up to date on my preparations and selections, but if anyone is interested in teaming up in any event let me know.
