Guys, I have a confession to make. Last week we ran a series of blogs about our buddy Drew Stonewall reporting from the Iowa basketball camp for young kids. He was working the camp as a coach and was "reporting" back to us with daily recaps. Well, full disclosure......that wasn't actually Drew reporting back to us. I don't know if any of you picked up on this or not but it was actually just me making those quotes up trying to sound like Drew.
Drew was in fact working the camp, that part was real. His quotes and recaps however were not. Sorry for those I confused, including my wife who asked me why Drew was so excited about getting his picture taken with the NIT banner.
But Drew did have a picture to take home from camp as a souvenier.
After the Iowa/Wisconsin game this year when Jason Bohannon made the game winning three-pointer at the Kohl Center, Drew photoshopped a picture with me and another Badger buddy of his in the crowd reacting to that shot. Even as a Badgers fan, I'll admit that it was a quality effort.
Well, Drew took that one step further at camp last week and I thought it needed to be recognized here in the Three Count. Coach Stonewall actually had that photoshopped picture signed by Jason Bohannon himself. I don't know how that conversation went or how Jason responded (I hear the story is in this week's FlyOver Sports podcast though) but I do know below was the finished result. Well done.
I was harsh on the Cubs and their clubhouse yesterday in the blog after Miguel Montero's comments postgame last night after throwing out 0 of 7 runners behind the plate, so I have to at least give credit where credit is due now. I like the move by the Cubs to designate him for assignment.
The move sends a sound message to the team and doesn't let that negative reaction fester in the locker room. And it also sends a little bit of a kick in the ass to the rest of the team as well, which it could use right now. I know Montero has had some big moments for the Cubs in the past but he's still basically a back-up catcher. That's a spot you can send a message to. Obviously that's not happening to one of the studs on the team but this was a perfect storm for Joe Maddon to make a move. I like it. Well done.
Also, all of that is irrelevant because Tim Tebow homered in his first day with his new ball club after being promoted from Single A ball. I can't wait 'til this guy is in the majors. This guy is a stud.
The Season 19 premiere of Big Brother was last night. My quick initial reactions to the first episode before we get into the POWER RANKINGS...
- Solid cast. I'm usually so-so on the cast after night one but this year has me interested. Think it's a good mix of game players and characters. Hoping for the best.
- We gotta get rid of those staged "key reveals" they do every year to let the houseguests know they've made it into the house. Just not realistic at all. I'd guess the camera crew and all their friends/family being there is a tip-off that something is up but apparently not.
- Julie Chen was just handing out twists last night like she was giving away candy on Halloween.
- The Den of Temptation is Maj. I'm afraid it's going to lead to a lot of production saving who they want to save and getting rid of who they want to get rid of, but I think it's going to be entertaining.
- Cameron was way too full of himself and not as much of a threat as he thought he was in the diary room.....but that being said, getting evicted after only 12 hours is brutal. I can't imagine how much that would suck for a real Big Brother fan.
This guy just checks all the boxes of what you're looking for in a Big Brother player...going to be a power player.
Mr. Salt and Pepper is going to clean up with the women in the house this year.
Scares me that he's never seen Big Brother before but I love him, probably my favorite contestant ever on Big Brother after night one.
The gay guys in Big Brother always seem to do well, not sure if that's stereotyping or not but I could see him making a run.
The Iowa guy seems too loud to last all summer but I guess he knows Jake Mohling somehow so it could just come down to how often he read Jake's Twitter feed the past couple months to keep him motivated throughout the summer.
This is where I would have had Cameron before he was eliminated....he'll be significantly lower now after getting evicted.
Seems likable enough but the huge muscles and frame seems like an easy target to try an eliminate in the middle of the season.
Too much Jozea in him for me, get him out of here.
Quote from my wife last night "She's a smoke-stack".
Don't be like DaVonne, don't be like DaVonne, don't be like DaVonne, don't be like DaVonne.......
Had the line of the night after hearing Cameron introduce himself: "Hashtag: Lives In His Mom's Basement"
I was all in on Christmas at the start (probably because of the name) but she also seems like she plans on playing the game hard all season and that worries me.
I like the Navy interrogator part of her game but she wants to play real hard as well...I just don't get these people.
I liked almost everything about her except her telling her family she plans on her mouth getting her in trouble this season....that's not a great sign.
If she is anything like Raven from the Bachelor she'll be my favorite by the end of the season.
