I finally worked my way into watching the last two episodes of Girl Meets World. When Disney announced that they were not renewing the show for another season, I was pissed. Still am actually. Such a great show, I don't understand canceling it after only three seasons. So at that time I think there were only 3-4 episodes left in the season. I finally got around to watching it yesterday.
It pulled on the old heartstrings a little bit. Not nearly as much as the original Boy Meets World finale but that's to be expected since this was only in Season 3. I wish the show would have gotten more of a heads up that this would be the finale, instead of learning it with only a couple episodes left. You can tell they really fast-forwarded a lot of things to try to get it to a somewhat reasonable ending point.
Great to see Mr. Feeny one last time, as well as all the other old characters. Thought it was a pretty sound way to let everyone make one last cameo appearance. Almost got a "Fe-he-he-he-heeny" from Eric but not quite. They even got Mr. Turner back for a couple lines. All-in-all I thought it was a very good final couple episodes, even though they deserved much better from the Disney Channel. Bad on you Mickey Mouse.
A lot of questions from me regarding that Nick/Andi reunion. I'll save the rest of the episode for Monday's preview blog like normal but I thought Nick and Andi meeting again warranted it's own spot today. Those two ended things on terrible terms, at least publicly, on their season. Andi dumped Nick at Final Two, Nick basically accused her of being a slut on live television, and then Andi wrote some pretty harsh things about Nick in her book. Reality television at its finest. So even while Nick is the bachelor this season, I never imagined Andi would show up on this season.
And it was actually a pretty good segment. I was afraid when The Bachelor hyped it up and used it as a cliff-hanger that it wouldn't amount to much. And while it didn't shake the Earth by any means, it was still pretty productive. My problem though is I could have watched those two talk to each other for at least 30 minutes, not just the 5-6 minutes we got. I mean there was some legit bad blood between those two...that could have been the entire episode.
I mean, when the Rock finally returned to WWE about 5 years ago or so they didn't just put him on RAW once and call it good. They didn't just put him in a match on SmackDown or even Judgement Day or something. They had Rock show up on RAW, call out John Cena, and set a match up for the following WrestleMania which was about 364 days away. Then they hyped that encounter up for an entire year and called it a "once in a lifetime match". And then after the "once in a lifetime match" they had another match the following WrestleMania because that's what you do with a huge meeting.
This meeting seemed a little anti-climatic. Just the opener to a episode and then never touched on again. This could have been so much bigger. I was hoping for a little more back-and-forth and a little less civility. I guess I get why that probably wouldn't be good for the show though. Nick would come off looking bad if that happens, no matter how it plays out, and then that hurts viewership for the upcoming final episodes. Still, just seemed like a wasted opportunity.
Today is the last day of February, which means March and all the glory of college basketball and its tournaments kicks off tomorrow. I'm going to predict some conference tournaments here the next couple weeks and I'll start with the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in St. Louis this week. Action kicks off Thursday.
8 Evansdale over 9 Indiana State
10 Drake over 7 Bradley
1 Illinois State over 8 Evansdale
5 Loyola over 4 Soutern Illinois
2 Wichita State over 10 Drake
3 Northern Iowa over 6 Missouri State
1 Illinois State over 5 Loyola
2 Wichita State over 3 Northern Iowa
1 Illinois State over 2 Wichita State
This is a two team conference this season. Illinois State and Wichita State both went 17-1 in the conference, no one else was over .500. So as trendy as it would be to try to pick an upset here, I can't do it. Not that I think Wichita State or Illinois State are untouchable, I just don't have confidence in any other team to beat them. In the Championship, I'll take Illinois State over Wichita State. The Shockers have had their run, time for some new blood. Give me the Redbirds.
