I didn't watch any of this game but apparently Oklahoma beat West Virginia last night. In Morgantown??? What the hell happened there? Sounds like more of this fake news from Russia if you ask me.
In all seriousness, that's a shocker and goes a long ways in deciding the Big 12 Champion this year. After winning roughly 47 league titles in a row it's not like Kansas needs any additional help and needless to say, that loss by West Virginia really puts them behind the 8-ball. Now with 2-losses in the conference, West Virginia probably needs to go 13-1 and sweep Kansas to win the league? That's a tall, tall task in a power conference...especially one as deep as the Big 12 this year.
Maybe West Virginia isn't as good as we were thinking, or at least as good as I was thinking. I may have gotten a little ahead of myself after their win against Virginia. Looking at their resume so far: losses to Temple, Texas Tech, and now Oklahoma have to be a little bit of an eye-opener.
Lots of Hall of Fame talk in the Three Count this week, so let's keep it going. Major League Baseball announced their 2017 Hall of Fame class yesterday: Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines, and Pudge Rodriguez.
I'll make my annual post about this on Facebook today but I'll say the same thing here and leave it at that. If Barry Bonds is not a Hall of Famer, then having a Hall of Fame is irrelevant.
Back for my answers to this week's Flyover Sports #Sixer questions.
1. What day is the ideal date for a birthday? What day is the worst date for a birthday?
*Best Day: September 15th - I've always thought you have to have a birthday during the school year so you get your own party day during elementary school. I always felt bad for the kids who had summer birthdays and got ripped out of that. September is in the fall, still good weather, away from other major holidays.
*Worst Day: Christmas. Sharing presents. Sharing the spotlight with all your family members instead of having it to yourself on your birthday. Sounds terrible.
2. What 3 living people would you include in your dream golfing foursome?
*Ric Flair, Jerry Seinfeld, Barack Obama
3. If you could only have one condiment for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
4. If you're life was in the balance, would you choose you making an NBA 3-pointer or Blair Walsh making a 40-yard field goal?
*Blair Walsh FG - I'm a math teacher. I've just got to play the probabilities.
5. Is there anyone you pay $99 for their autograph or $50 for a selfie with them?
*I'd pay $50 for a selfie with Ric Flair. Possibly some other but he's the first that comes to mind. With the selfie would come some time to interact and talk with him I'd assume. Wouldn't spend the $99 for a autograph of anyone though.
6. If there was a Presidential Hunger Games with all the Presidents in their primes, who would win?
*Winner: Abraham Lincoln. An wrestler in his day and probably the grittiest President.
*No Shot: FDR. Physical limitations just are too much for him to overcome.
*Dark Horse: Martin Van Buren. You gotta watch out for those Van Buren boys.
